NVIDIA Warns of GeForce RTX 40 Graphics Card Shortages in November and December

NVIDIA Warns of GeForce RTX 40 Graphics Card Shortages in November and December

During the latest earnings call, NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress warned of a potential GPU supply shortage in the gaming sector. This aligns with reports that NVIDIA had stopped production of almost all GeForce RTX 40 cards, with the sole exception of the GeForce RTX 4050 and RTX 4060.

NVIDIA’s Transition to GeForce RTX 50 Series

NVIDIA’s results for the third quarter of the year were very positive, but the company warned that they might not be as positive in the fourth quarter due to the lower supply of GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards. The company is now facing the start of a transition to the new generation, the GeForce RTX 50 series, which is why it has decided to stop production of almost all of its current graphics cards.

High-End Models Most Affected

RTX 4070

The models most affected by this potential supply shortage would be the high-end and mid-range models, specifically those from the GeForce RTX 4070 onwards. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and GeForce RTX 4060 should avoid supply issues, and the same is expected in the laptop sector for mid-range graphics cards such as the RTX 4060 and below.

Additionally, This supply shortage may not pose a long-term problem, as NVIDIA is expected to unveil the GeForce RTX 5080 in January next year.
