XFX Radeon RX 6600 XT MERC 308 Review

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT is here at last, and while AMD has chosen not to release a reference design, they did create a base model for brands like XFX to take as a starting point. The chipset is designed to be a more affordable one, targeting 1920 x 1080 resolutions, and perhaps some 1440p gaming. However, despite that, XFX has gone all out to create one of the most powerful versions of this chipset we’re likely to see. The XFX Radeon RX 6600 XT MERC 308 is a beast, coming with a bigger factory overclock, one of the largest coolers, and more. Out of the three 6600 XT’s we have in the office, it’s the only one with a triple-fan cooler!

To ensure it can push higher clock speeds, and more importantly, maintain them without throttling, XFX has put some hefty cooling hardware on this chipset. You’ll find a 4-piece 6mm heatpipe design over a large aluminium heatsink, a full aluminium backplate, and it comes with the XFX Zero DB Auto Load Sensing Fans. These fans can sit at zero RPM for silent performance, but independent control will cool each part of the card as it is required. It also comes with their slick Ghost Thermal Design shroud, dual BIOS, an LED logo and more! Overall, this card should impress, so let’s dive in for a closer look!
