With just about 2 days to go till launch, more details are leaking out about AIB partner cards. As with many GPU launches in the past, only reference coolers will be available for the RX 480. However, AMD is allowing for slight customizations as well as factory overclocks with the stock cooler. One of the first cards we saw was the XFX model and we’re now getting more details about their offerings.
According to the leak, XFX is planning at least 2 and likely 3 RX 480 models for launch day. There will be 2 Black Edition cards, one with a heavier factory OC as well as the stock AMD card. For the RX 480 Black Edition OC, the card will run at 1328 MHz and comes with a DP to DVI-D adapter as well as a nice black backplate. The normal Black Edition still features a factory OC but a relatively minor one, clocking in at 1288 MHz.
If XFX is starting off with factory OC cards, other AIB partners likely will have overclocked models out of the gate at launch as well. Hopefully, the card stocks and overclocking ability will live up to the leaks. I can;t wait to see what AMD has brought to the $200 price point!
