Xiaomi 34″ UltraWide QHD 144Hz FreeSync Curved Gaming Monitor Review

A Closer Look

First impressions of this monitor are honestly very good. It’s a great looking monitor, albeit, what little of it you can see as it’s mostly just an enourmous panel. Of course, that’s a good thing.

The monitor maintains a very slim bezel around the edges, clocking in at just 2mm. When you put that bezel on the edges of a 34″ ultrawide panel, it really does seem like no bezel at all.

There’s a deeper bezel along the bottom edge, which isn’t exactly substantial either, and it really keeps the focus on the panel. There’s a small power indicator LED in the bottom right, but otherwise, it’s pretty clean on the front.

Furthermore, I love the dark grey colour to it. It has a premium look to it, but it doesn’t distract you in any particular way. As you can see, you can turn the monitor quite a bit too, albeit, with such a wide panel it’s likely to hit something when you do, ha!

All of the buttons are tucked around the back, and a little fiddly to use. I mean, you won’t be reaching for them too often anyway, but I feels a little archaic compared to monitors with a joystick controller. They’re hardly a deal-breaker though, we’ve all experience monitor UIs, they’re rarely easy.

The stand looks really fantastic, with a sleek and clean design that I’m sure anyone will appreciate. What’s really clever, however, is that it has magnetic panels on it.

Simply pop them of, and you can easily tidy up your cable routing.

The back of the monitor offers up a VESA mount too, which you wish to use your own stand or even wall mount the panel.

You get a pair of DisplayPort 1.4 and a pair of HDMI 2.0b ports. There’s also an Audio in. Not the most complex setup, but honestly, it’s more than most people will ever use.
