I don’t know about you but Soundwave is one of my favorite Decepticons, and that’s mainly because he can transform into a microcassette recorder of all things. It looks like Xiaomi and Hasbro also have some love for this particular Transformer, as they have decided to partner up and create a special tablet inspired by his unique looks. The tablet unfolds into a shiny 190mm model of Soundwave, and it features color details and textures similar to Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 2 smartphone. Assembling and disassembling the tablet requires no less than 30 steps, which means that you will need a bit of patience and maybe a passion for puzzles in order to get it right.
The bad news is that the tablet is actually no more than a toy, which means that it doesn’t actually work. To be fair, the transforming gadget costs just $26, as this was the smallest amount required from crowdfunding backers in order to receive one. Considering that the tablet’s crowdfunding campaign has managed to raise three times its original goal, we wouldn’t be surprised if Xiaomi and Hasbro would go ahead and push for a wider release. Until then, you can have a look at the Soundwave Mi Pad 2 tablet in the following video.
