Chinese smartphone vendor XiaoMi is apparently preparing an eight core smartphone for launch this year. The company is renowned for its high performance smartphone solutions at relatively affordable price points. The new 8 core smartphone will possess a MediaTek MT6592 8 core processor if Zol are to be believed.
Additionally, GSM Insider has stated that other smartphone vendors in China such as Lenovo, Oppo, Gionee and Vivo are all preparing smartphones based on the same 8 core MediaTek CPU.
News on when the phone will arrive is sparse but it makes logical sense that it will be unveiled towards the end of the year after XiaoMi unveil their Mi3 flagship smartphone next month. It will be interesting to see how XiaoMi’s new 8 core smartphone can compete with current 8 core smartphone giant – the Samsung Galaxy S4.
