Xigmatek intros a new low-profile cooler.
If you’re looking for a low-profile, yet quite capable CPU cooler, Xigmatek has just revealed something that might catch your eye. The Prodigy ST1266 is designed for today’s high-end mainstream desktop CPU, even though it might not look the part. Boasting an overall height of just 67 mm (fan included), this is cooler would fit in most PC cases out there. Moreover, it can handle thermal loads of up to 150W, which is not bad at all. This means that it can keep in check modern-day CPUs such as the Core i7-8700K and the Ryzen 7 1800X. As far as sockets are concerned, it is compatible with LGA2066, LGA2011(v3), LGA115x, AM4, AM3(+), and FM2(+).
What about design and build quality?
The conventional C-type, top-flow layout is nothing too special these days. However, there are six 6mm-thick copper heat pipes that connect directly to the CPU at the base. Moreover, the base doubles up as a small aluminum mono-block heatsink. The heatpipes do a fine job at leading heat towards an aluminum fin-stack, which is ventilated by a 15 mm-thick 120 mm fan. Speaking of the fan, it spins between 800 and 1,500 RPM, and it can push out 56.9 CFM of air. As for the noise levels, the maximum output is 22.4 dBA.
The Prodigy ST1266 CPU cooler by Xigmatek measures in at 126 mm x 120 mm x 67 mm. No word on pricing just yet, but considering its performance and practicality, it probably won’t come cheap.
