Xigmatek update their Midgard, continuing the successful legacy

Years after the first Midgard, Xigmatek have announced an updated version; the Midgard II.

Back in 2009, when the Midgard first came out, it included features rarely seen together, others were new and introduced by the case itself, some of which are nowadays considered standards, all of this with both the style and performance at an incredibly low and competitive price.

Right from the start, we can see that the Midgard II is following the legacy, with front mesh similar to the original, engineers at Xigmatek have been working on it, as we can see the introduction of a new surface material, called “Leather Touch”, it’s the same material you would find on the best mice. Staying on the outside, we can count four 5.25” drive bays for your optical drive, one of which features the compatibility to hold slim line optical drive, a really unique feature.

On the top, you will have access to all your Input and Output ports, on which you’ll find the up to date USB3.0 in the count of one and connected internally, two USB 2.0, the usual Audio and Microphone, power and reset button along power and activity LEDs, and a hot swappable hard drive docking station, very useful with today’s easy management of HDDs.

From in and out, you’ll obviously need cooling, starting at the front behind the mesh and the included dust filter, a pre-installed 120mm fan is placed to suck in fresh air and cool the hard drives, while a second pre-installed 120mm fan is in the back to exhaust the hot air. Additional fans can be included, two 120 or 140mm fans on the top, as well as the possibility of two more on the side and a single on the bottom. Xigamatek have also given the possibility to get a real high-end liquid cooling system up and running, with  both support for 240mm radiator and pre cut-out tube holes at the back.

Inside, you’ll find the same features, as well as additional ones, that propelled the first Midgard to the top; a wide array of various holes and clips will allow an extremely clean built, a cut-out hole on the motherboard tray gives you access to the back plate of your CPU cooler, the drive bays can hold up to six 2.5” or 3.5” drives, while the 3.5” is completely tool less thanks to the embedded metal pins, understandably the 2.5” requires additional tool. Optical drive bays are also tool less, although the expansion slots, in the number of seven, are fixed with thumbscrews, thus showing us that Xigmatek still believes in strong and secure builds before facilitating everything. As for extra long video cards, with the removable hard drive cages, you’ll be able to fit a card as long as 33cm. On the bottom, you’ll find a real ‘heaven’ for your PSU, with foam to eliminate sounds and four rubber feet on which it will rest, you won’ be able to hear any vibrations.

Moreover, you also get Xigmatek’s own “Mono Cool” fan controller that allows you to control up to three fans. We therefore have the proof in front of us that the Midgard II does in fact continue with the legacy of its predecessor while still preserving the competitive price.

The Xigmatech Midgard II will be available by the end of November for the incredible price of €69.90 exclusively at CaseKing.de.
