Xilence XQ Series Interceptor Full Tower Chassis Review

The installation process took just over 30mins, which isn’t exactly snappy, but the large scale of the chassis didn’t make things easy. As you can see I’ve taken the strange approach of mounting our Antec Kuhler 920 in the top of the chassis, while this isn’t the ideal location for such a cooler I wanted to test the clearance of the top fan / radiator mount best I could. With the radiator mounted in the center or left section of the chassis I found that it conflicted with either the RAM or the 8 pin motherboard power connections. This is a very thick radiator with two 120mm fans, so check compatibility with your water cooling manufacturer first.

I left the rear 120mm exhaust fan in place and with very little in the way of our GPU, PSU or in fact most of our motherboard, airflow throughout the chassis should be fantastic.

While I didn’t fill all these bays with hard drives, I decided to hook each up with a power connection and SATA cable to better test the cable management and to generally get feel for who the chassis would look with more drives. While there are a lot of cables on show, the cable management is doing a great job and airflow is pretty clean throughout.

Around the back it soon becomes clear that this isn’t really the way to go if your only planning a single GPU / Expansion card system, our test components barely make a dent and there is no doubt this system could handle a quad GPU setup.

With the chassis powered up you can see that the front 120mm fans come fitted with red LED lights, which really does help bring a touch of style to the very heavy duty design.

I’ve also decided to install a pair of 120mm BitFenix Specter fans on the side panel, putting the internal fan mounts on the hard drive bays to good use, but also adding an extra touch of colour to the side panel, if you look closely you can also see the blue lights on our Antec 920 CPU cooling block behind the viewing window.
