How Much Does it Cost?

The XPG Core Reactor 850 Gold retails for a price in the region of £109.99. A price that has it roughly £10-£20 less expensive than a lot of its main competition. At the very least, if this isn’t the most affordable design (coming from a recognizable brand) it’s certainly at least on par and as such, in terms of value, while not representing an outright bargain, it is certainly well well placed to, quite rightly, attract some consumer attention.

It should be noted though that this with PSU coming with a huge 10-warranty, this is, in many instances, at least double what many competing products may offer.

Performance

Throughout all of our testing, the XPG Core Reactor performed exceptionally well. Not that we’d incidentally expect anything less in regards to anything that came out of the ADATA factory. Without a doubt, however, some of the key performance highlights was the exceptionally strong efficiency rating found in our testing and the superb 400 watt ‘overhead’ offered in the OPP test.

In regards to the former, we should note that as good as our results were, this is a ‘Gold’ efficiency power supply. Coming ever so close to ‘Platinum’, however, it’s without a doubt one of the best performers from this ‘Gold’ category we have ever seen. Additionally, while you should never buy a power supply not suited to your systems wattage requirements, with such a massively huge 400 watts available before the OPP kicked in, there’s more than a little wiggle room should you ever attempt the occasional overclock.

Practicality & Functionality

Offering a sleek design and exceptionally quiet performance, the XPG Core Reactor 850 Gold would be a fantastic addition to practically any conceivable gaming PC setup. With it’s exceptionally strong performance and low-noise output, it does everything you could possible want and more!

Better still, with a huge 10-year warranty and fully-modular cable design, you can easily look at this PSU being more of a long-term investment than a purchase!

Should I Buy One?

The XPG Core Reactor 850 Gold doesn’t really offer anything too eye-catching in what is undoubtedly a very saturated market. The key factor, however, is that this range from ADATA is exactly the sort of PSU every gaming or enthusiast PC owner should be looking towards. It ticks all of the right boxes in terms of efficiency rating, a fully modular design, and a strong sleek aesthetic while, in many regards, being vastly better than it honestly had any necessity to be!

Not only would I happily recommend this power supply, but if I was in the market for a new one that offered all the performance you could want with no unnecessary thrills, this would definitely be on my list. And, with that in mind, I can’t think of higher praise than that!
