XPG GAMMIX D20 16GB 3600MHz DDR4 Memory Review

How Much Does It Cost?

There seems to be a complete stock wipe-out of this model, and given we’ve just thrown Black Friday isn’t a November long sale, and on the day we publish this review, it’ll be Cyber Monday! I did find the XPG GAMMIX D20 3200 MHz kit for just £68.57 + £13.95 delivery. That’s a great price for that kit and will likely be more than enough for most people. However, if you’re looking for the faster kits, you’ll have to set up some stock notifications or watch their Amazon store.

Overview

XPG has a lot of experience in the memory market, this isn’t their first and certainly won’t be their last set of gaming memory. There’s nothing really remarkable about this particular memory kit, it just delivers exactly what it says on the box. I guess that’s really more of a complement than anything. At 3600 MHz it offers speeds that give you a bit of a performance edge vs the more common 3200 MHz kits. However, it still managed to maintain good timing too, especially for this price range.

Design

What strikes me the most about the design? It’s a bit boring, and I honestly like that. It doesn’t grab your eye, it doesn’t shout about its self, and most importantly, it doesn’t light up. There’s zero RGB, which is almost strange as so many memory kits are pushing to add more light, not take it away. Of course, there’s room in the market for both. However, for decent gaming memory without RGB, your choices are somewhat limited right now. It’s a good design though, they’ve put in details that make it look great upon inspection, but otherwise, it lurks in the shadows as intended.

Should I Buy Them?

If you’re looking to build a clean looking gaming PC or even a work PC that doesn’t need RGB… or dare I say, doesn’t need any more RGB than you’ve already crammed into it, then the XPG GAMMIX D20 is certainly an appealing solution. The heatsink is chunky enough to enable some decent memory speeds, and there’s a great range of variants available too, so getting the speed and capacity you desire should be a breeze!
