XPG Levante X 240 RGB AIO Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t see this in stock at Amazon when I check, but you can check for up-to-date stock and prices in the UK here on the official product page. In the US, it’s also available from XPG Store, with an MSRP of $199.95, but currently listed for just $159.99 (approximately £125).

Overview

There’s really nothing I can fault about this cooler, it delivers the exact cooling experience I would have expected from a high-end AIO liquid cooler. The Akatek 7th Gen pump is the heart of the beast here, and we already know it to be rather excellent. The pump is cool, quiet and efficient, and I can’t say I ever really noticed it making any noise… I never even heard so much as a gurgle from this cooler now that I think about it.

The installation process is pretty much what you would expect from a good AIO, and really didn’t take more than a few minutes. It being Akatek, I didn’t even need the instruction book, as I’ve done these dozens of times, but even if you’re a first-time AIO user, it’s possible to do all but the fans with just your fingers, and even then, only a small Philips screwdriver is all you’ll need.

The fans are a little on the loud side, at least on their default profile, but that’s because they can spin up to a whopping 2000 RPM. At full speed, you’re not so much hearing the fans, but the wind noise of them pushing through the radiator and making some turbulence. Honest, you can set them to a fixed RPM of about 20-40% and they’ll be all you need for gaming all night, and barely make a sound in the process. If you’re maxing out your CPU rendering, even then, a silent fan curve is going to be just fine.

The ARGB lighting is very nice, a little brighter than some of the competition, but if you want more vibrant colours and fans that light up your case interior rather than just themselves, then that could be a bonus for you. The added bonus on the included controller is nice too, especially for those who don’t like the desktop software control solutions used by Corsair, NZXT, Thermaltake and a few others.

Should I Buy One?

The stock is a little thin on the ground, but that will improve very soon, I’m sure. XPG is a quality brand that has proven time and time again that it can deliver excellent PC hardware, cases, power supplies and more. Now with the Levante X they’ve got a great AIO too, and while it’s very capable if you did need something a little more potent, there’s a 360mm version available now too!
