More than twenty years after the launch of Vagrant Story, many are still dreaming of the return of the RPG masterpiece centered on the character of Ashley Riot. Even Naoki Yoshida admits to being a big fan: Yoshi-P hopes to be able to witness, and maybe even participate, in the return of the cult RPG.
Reflecting on RPG Classics
In an interview with 4-Gamer (thanks Genki_JPN), the Japanese master took the opportunity to rewind the tape of memories and fantasize about the great return of Vagrant Story and another significant role-playing experience tinged with strategic elements.
During the interview, Yoshi-P candidly admitted,
I’m a fan of Yasumi Matsuno, so I want to leave “Vagrant Story” and “Final Fantasy Tactics” to future generations so that they can always be played on any platform.
To be honest, I don’t have much interest in remakes or remasters, but I think it’s very important that a masterpiece can be played properly with the taste of the time.
Yoshi-P’s passion for preserving iconic RPGs like Vagrant Story and Final Fantasy Tactics is a testament to the lasting impact of these games. Fans of classic role-playing adventures can only hope that Yoshida’s dream will one day come true, giving new generations the chance to dive into the magic and depth of these legendary titles, just as they were meant to be experienced.
