Yoshi-P: Square Enix Plans More Releases on Xbox Alongside Other Platforms

Square Enix hasn’t shown much interest in Xbox in recent years, often prioritizing other platforms. The Japanese publisher has consistently given preference to PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with several exclusive titles on these platforms, as well as mobile.
Some of Square Enix’s biggest games of this generation, such as Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, haven’t even made it to Xbox yet. However, this may soon change as Square Enix appears poised to shift its approach.
However, in the future, fans can expect Square Enix to publish its games on Xbox simultaneously with other platforms.
Yoshi-P’s Words on Square Enix’s Future Games
Speaking to 4Gamer, Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida revealed that Square Enix is looking to move away from platform-specific exclusives and indicated that, in the future, Square Enix titles will be released simultaneously on each platform more frequently.
“Of course, we want you to play it a lot on other platforms as well,” he said, speaking about the upcoming release of Fantasian Neo Dimension. “This time, we will also release the Xbox Series X|S version at the same time. In the future, Square Enix titles will increasingly be released simultaneously on each platform more and more, but since we are so close to the first release of this game, we would like to make it available to Xbox users as well” without waiting.
Considering all this, Xbox fans can look forward to a future where Square Enix titles will finally arrive on their platform alongside other systems, making for a more inclusive gaming experience.
