A NY Daily News report suggests that American teenagers are beginning to favour Twitter more than Facebook. Their findings, from a representative sample of 8300 teenagers, showed that when asked about what social networking platforms they prefer the top three positions were dominated by Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Twitter was preferred by 25% of the American public, Facebook by 23% and Instagram by 23%. Those three remained well ahead of other social networking platforms with just 3% choosing Tumblr and 3% choosing Google Plus.
“The data point is likely unsurprising as the trend in our survey has been moving toward Twitter over the past couple of years,” said analysts Gene Munster and Douglas Clinton in a note to clients. “Overall, regardless of the trend in teen preference toward other networks, we continue to believe that Facebook has additional avenues for monetization in Instagram and video in the coming months.”
Do you prefer Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus, Tumblr or any other social networking site? Or are you just sick of social networking in general? Let us know your thoughts!
