YouTube to Add PlayStation VR Support

In its latest update, YouTube is set to add PlayStation VR support, however, nobody seems to know when this update will actually be available. YouTube update 1.09 may be on its way, although nobody seems to know when. Currently, PlayStation users are running version 1.08, and many of them have not as of yet, been able to update to 1.09.

Reddit user, Dravenworks, said

“I just tried my AU, US, JP, HK, UK PSN Accounts …. while some did “update” all of them are still 1.08 🙁 bummer”

While the amount of accounts this person has is a little, over the top, it does make you wonder which region the update is actually available in.

I haven’t been able to confirm the update is out after asking my console owning friends, and the internet is not short of people asking where it is. Screenshots have emerged of the alleged update, although information to support it is lacking.

Currently, PlayStation VR users have been limited to specialised VR apps, or downloading their own videos to watch. This YouTube update if it proves to be true, would add a massive amount of content for PSVR users to enjoy.

Whether this update exists or not still needs to be confirmed, although if it turns out to be false, it may have just given YouTube and Sony a brilliant idea, only time will tell.

Along with all the hype surrounding this update, there are also those who are taking a more cautious approach, and until the update is widely confirmed, stay calm!

Unsurprisingly, there has also been no mention or hint of the Rift being supported officially by YouTube. As their competitor, it wouldn’t make sense. If we’re likely to see YouTube add VR support, you can almost guarantee it’ll be PSVR and Vive before Rift.

Have you been able to update to 1.09 yet? Do you know anyone who has? Is this update real?

Let us know in the comments.
