The technology industry has been doing backflips this last couple of days. First we hear rumours that Zalman have filed for bankruptcy, now we’re hearing the complete opposite; what the hell is going on?
The manufacturer has been the focus of much attention recently since its parent company, Moneual, was involved in large-scale corporate fraud. This fraud is thought to have left the company with no money, which resulted in the bankruptcy. Is this false claim just a further development in the companies alleged fraud scenario?
Zalman USA denied the rumours that the company had made a bankruptcy claim.
“I know that recently various media and other vendors are spreading rumors regarding Zalman going bankrupt over the recent scandals in Korea by our parent company Moneual.
“I wanted to assure you that these rumors of Zalman HQ going bankrupt are false. While our HQ is having some financial difficulties due to the recent troubles experienced by Moneual, Zalman is not going bankrupt.”
The company has said they’ll provide an official statement at the end of this month, which should clear up many of the issues currently surrounding the company. They also offered assurances that current warranties wouldn’t suffer any changes.
In all honesty, it sounds like Zalman is still in a lot of trouble. Moneual bought Zalman back in 2011 and has since operated a scam where the company’s executives secured large loans from Korean banks by forging its export performance papers. Perhaps a third-party has jumped in to rescue Zalman from financial doom at the last moment.
The future of Zalman is very murky right now, things are certainly not looking good for Moneual. We look forward to the official statement from Zalman and will update you once we have more information.
