Zalman F1 Series solid state drives start selling in Japan

Zalman’s newest line of solid state drives, named the F1 series, has started selling in Japan. These drives are expected to launch at some point tomorrow and they appear to be typical SATA III solid state drives. Using the Sandforce SF-2281 controller along with MLC NAND Flash memory chips these drives can achieve impressive speeds of 560MB/s read and 530MB/s write.

Capacity structure is also quite standard coming in with 60GB, 120GB and 240GB varieties. They are priced at 11,980 JPY (US $153), 19,800 JPY ($254), and 39,980 JPY ($513), respectively. They come in the standard 2.5″ form factor and come with a 2.5″ to 3.5″ adapter drive bay. The 60GB and 120GB drives offer about 30K IOPs while the 240GB drive offers 45K IOPs.
