The Korean company Zalman, known for its air cooling solutions, cases and power supplies, has decided it will be entering the graphics card market for the first time. In a move which makes a lot of sense given Zalman’s VGA cooling expertise they have signed a deal with AMD to become a AIB (Add In Board) partner and they have started off the line up with some mid range models. Zalman will be producing a HD 6870, HD 6850 and HD 6770 although it will not be making much of the card itself.
It is reported Zalman will use partners such as HIS, PC Partner and TUL for the PCB, then use AMD for the GPU chips and it will produce and assemble the graphics card cooling solutions itself. All the graphics card they are making for the initial launch are based on reference clock speeds. The recommended pricing is as follows:
Each card will come with: a DVI to VGA adapter , power cable adapters: 2 4pin molex to 6pin, a CrossFire bridge (except the HD6770-H), installation manual and driver disc
