Zotac Announces GTX 1080 Ti AMP Graphics Card

Following shortly on the embargo lift for the new Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, we have several more card announcements from various graphics card partners. The latest partner to get in on the action is Zotac with their new AMP series GTX 1080 Ti. This follows their earlier GTX 1080 TI PGF which focused on the RGB side of things.

As we all know, the AMP series is aimed at performance and overclocking. We have the top end ZOTAC GTX 1080 TI AMP Extreme as well as the ‘regular’ ZOTAC GTX 1080 TI AMP Edition and the pain vanilla Zotac GTX 1080 Ti. All three models are based off the GP102 die of course and unfortunately, Zotac has not released the clock speeds for the cards yet.

First up we have the AMP Extreme which is the triple cooler monster. The card features the IceStorm cooling system and metallic ExoArmor with a custom backplate. As with most cards, it features a 0dB mode for silent passive operation. Zotac has gone all out on the power delivery with 16+2 phases 2 x 8pin PCIe power connectors.

Sitting in the middle of the pack we have the AMP Edition. It is less extreme with just a dual fan cooling solution and a less aggressive look. I expect cooling and stock clock speeds will be the main differentiator. It has the same 16+2 phase design as well.

Last of all, we have the plain vanilla GTX 1080 Ti. Based off of the reference PCB, Zotac has merely substituted the reference Founders Edition cooler for one of their own. It will be interesting to see where performance falls compared to the reference Nvidia model. I expect it will be the card to sell below MSRP due to savings in the cooler shroud and cooler itself.
