ZOTAC is the latest NVIDIA partner to launch their new ‘GTX 1060 6GB’ variant. This is of course different from both the GTX 1060 6GB and GTX 1060 3GB which uses the GP106 GPU.
These latest GTX 1060 6GB make use of a cut-down GP104 GPU instead. This is the same GPU from the higher-end GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 graphics card, but with some parts disabled. Furthermore, this new GTX 1060 uses 6GB of GDDR5X, which is faster than the 6GB of GDDR5 used with the older GTX 1060.
The new ZOTAC model (ZT-P10620A-10M) measures 211mm x 125mm x 41mm and is a dual-slot, dual-fan card. It has a base clock of 1506 MHz and boosts up to 1708MHz. Although this is slower than other GTX 1060 with GDDR5X such as MSI’s Armor model, the ZOTAC card makes up for it in size. Its more compact size allows it to fit inside smaller enclosures. Meanwhile, most other manufacturers will only fit on mid-tower cases.
Unlike other compact cards, ZOTAC also uses an actual heatpiped heatsink instead of a simple aluminium block. In conjunction with a pair of large 90mm fans, the GP104 GPU is kept cool through out under load. In fact, these fans are so large that the heatsink overhangs on the PCB.
The rear IO has connectors for three DisplayPorts (Version 1.4), one HDMI 2.0b and one DL-DVI. Aside from drawing power from the PCIe x16 bus, it requires an 8-pin power connector.
