Zotac Gaming RTX 2080 Ti Amp Review

A Closer Look

I’m somewhat conflicted by my first impression here, and even after looking at this card for a few days, I’m not sure what to make of it. It’s a bit… boring looking, I think. I’m so used to GPUs now looking like the Lamborghini designer took a day off that a more understated and grown-up card design can catch me off guard. Personally, I don’t care too much for overly “gamer” aesthetics. I’m in my mid 30’s, and I’m trying to pretend I’m not a man-child. With that in mind, I do like this stealthier and less busy design; even if it does look a bit boring.

One thing I do like is that triple fan design. Each fan can operate independently depending on the individual card components cooling requirements. This means lower noise levels in low usage scenarios, and all the cooling you need in high use scenarios such as gaming.

Huge Cooler

The cooler is pretty massive too, using a thick radiator that’s about 2.5 slots deep; pretty common for modern GPUs now.

However, it even extends off of the back of the GPU, giving us a greatly expanded surface area for the card. This larger cooler is promising, and I’m expecting lower temperatures and higher performance from this card; I mean, who isn’t!

Built-in Backplate

On the reverse of the card, you’ll find a full-size backplate. Of course, it covers the PCB, not the full length of the radiator on the top. It’s got a few decals on there too, but overall, it’s fairly understated to match the rest of the design of the card.

Down the side, you’ll find the Zotac Gaming logo, which comes with customisable RGB lighting; if you’re into that kind of thing. Here, you’ll also find two 8-pin PSU connectors which you’ll need to power this beast.

Fantastic Connectivity

Connectivity looks decent too, with three DP and one HDMI port on the rear. Furthermore, there’s a USB Type-C which can be used for the next generation of VR headsets. With support for multiple 4K displays plus VR, you’ll not be left wanting for more from this!

Peter Donnell

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
