Zotac GTX 1660 SUPER TwinFan Review

How Much Does It Cost?

As is often the case with writing reviews before the products are released, we don’t have retail links and 100% confirmed prices right now. The card is expected to retail at the MSRP of just £209.99, which would make it the most affordable GTX 1660 SUPER we’ve reviewed today. We will, of course, update the pricing and retail links as soon as possible.

Overview

The Nvidia SUPER launches have been a little bit confusing for a lot of consumers. Before, Nvidia would release a few cards, and then a few months later, we would likely see a few of the popular ones get a Ti edition. Now there’s Ti, and now there’s also SUPER. Why bother? Well, over time, they get better at making their own cards, they change their production lines to some better components, and they push to improve to rival competitor products. For the 1660 Super, all of these seem to be true.

GDDR6 > GDDR5

The GTX 1660 was a robust card that made for fantastic 1080p performance. However, the switch to GDDR6 memory really does provide a nice performance bump. I wouldn’t upgrade from one to the other. However, if you’re still on an GTX 9xx or older, or even the older AMD cards, it’s a worthy option. The prices and performance are really on point here. Furthermore, this card sips at the PSU, making it appeal for more affordable system builds, and upgrading older systems in general.

1080p Gaming Beast

Zotac has done a fine job here, offering a card with a decent-sized cooler that makes easy work of the modest chipset. Of course, at this price range, the card can smash any game at 1080p with ease using high settings. With the GDDR6 memory, maxing games out at ultra settings and still hitting 60 FPS should be a breeze.

1440p and Beyond

Then again, that little performance boost was enough to get above 60 FPS at 1440p with high settings in many of our benchmarks. Not only that but hitting 30 FPS at 4K is amazing. Seriously, 4K gaming at this price. “Ha, you can’t game at 4K using 30FPS!” I hear the 2080 Ti owner squeal in the comments. Well, you just bloody well can folks, for single player romping around, it’ll still outpace many modern console games at this resolution. I think that’s pretty damn impressive.
