The ZOTAC MEK1 slim gaming PC which the company unveiled at Computex 2017 is now officially launched. While they are known for their ultra-compact mini-PCs, ZOTAC is branching out into the ultra-slim form factor line with the MEK1. The complete PC measures 419 x 416 mm and is only 118mm thick. In comparison, an Xbox One is 340 x 263mm and is 80mm thick. The additional size provides significantly more power however, since users can find a 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700 processor inside with a full-size ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card. Users can choose between a white bodied or a black bodied MEK1.
The Intel Core i7-7700 is a quad-core CPU running at 3.6GHz with up to 4.2GHz Turbo. It also comes with 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4 (2x8GB) and 1TB of 2.5-inch SATA HDD for storage. That traditional platter drive is simply just for storing your games. A much faster 240GB NVMe PCIe x4 SSD is also inside, which is much more suitable as the OS drive. It also has more than enough room for any application.
As for connectivity, there are 6x USB 3.0 ports and 2x USB 2.0 ports available. In addition, there is a PS/2 port. Which allows users to connect a legacy keyboard or PS/2 gaming device. In terms of network connectivity, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports are available, as well as a built-in 802.11ac WiFi with Bluetooth 4.2 . The video card itself has 3x DisplayPort 1.4, a DL-DVI-D port and an HDMI 2.0b, configuratble for a max of four simultaneous displays.
To fit as much as they can in a smalls pace, ZOTAC uses a mini-ITX motherboard with an 80-Plus 450W SFX power supply. The cooling system uses a downward blowing low-profile direct-contact copper heatsink for the CPU. Externally, users can also customize the Spectra lighting RGB LED.
