Zotac MEK1 Gaming PC System Review

Synthetic Benchmarks

3DMark Firestrike

With an Intel i7 processor and Nvidia 1070ti, we expected this system to do well. Quite this well though, we’re not so sure. Based on all systems we have received the Zotac MEK1 Gaming PC gave the 3rd highest score we have recently recorded in the 3DMark Firestick benchmarking test. Given that this is designed to test the CPU and GPU working together with the system as a whole, the figures were highly impressive beating out many systems in the process.

Unigine Superposition 1080p Extreme

The Nvidia 1070ti is clearly no slouch when it comes to graphics cards. As such we again expected this to do well and were not let down. Falling in a similar bracket for other systems with Nvidia 1070/ti cards, the score was highly impressive and in terms of graphical work, it again shows that the Nvidia 1070ti is an excellent card for a gaming system.

PCMark 10

We will admit that we did have great difficulty getting the PCMark 10 test to run correctly on this system. We were able to eventually find a workaround to the problem, but that being said, I would suggest that these results are taken with a pinch of salt. Logically it should have scored higher. Although these were confirmed as the results posted after 3 separate tests, we would, in a rare instance, say that probably is a little better than the testing suggests.

WPrime

The Intel i7 7700 is a very decent processor and as such we expected it to be a strong performer in the WPrime test. The test, which tests multithreaded processor performance showed that the Zotac MEK 1 Gaming PC did exceptionally well. It was only beaten by significantly more powerful Intel processors including the new 8th generation which was in the MSI GE63 Raider.

Cinebench R15

The Cinebench test, which tests multi and single core performance again showed the same excellent figures we saw in the WPrime test. The key difference is that this test specifically does single core as well as multicore. Given that the results perfectly mirror those above, it’s again clear that the processor is a hard and efficient worker.

Handbrake MP4 to MKV Conversion 4K

It is unlikely that you’ll buy a gaming PC with video editing specifically in mind. If you do often post video content online, however, it is a perk on a system that can make things a lot easier for you. In this regard the Zotac MEK1 Gaming PC did remarkably well averging 38 frames per second on the 4K video conversion. A short look at the list shows just how strong this system is in an area which is getting more and more revelant if not useful.
