There have been more than few rumours in recent weeks that Nvidia might be having something of a supply issue with the 10XX range of graphics cards. No, it’s not that they have too little. Quite the opposite in fact. It has been suggested that due to the drop in GPU demand (following the cryptocurrency crash) Nvidia has a rather significant bit of back stock. As such, as we have already seen, you may note more than a few ‘new versions’ of 10XX cards over the coming weeks just to try and burn a little of this off.
Well, the latest would appear to be coming from Zotac as the company has revealed an updated version of the GTX 1070 which will include GDDR5X VRAM.
Well, in the report via Videocardz, we have the specifications of the graphics card below. Taking these as a whole and, including the likely performance boost given with the improved VRAM, many are speculating that this graphics card could perform (nearly) as well as a standard Nvidia 1080. That, if true, would be very impressive indeed!
This does carry many of the design features we know well from Zotac and their products. The distinctive logo and, of course, that semi-angular design to the fans. It is, however, suspected that this ‘reveal’ has occurred much sooner than Zotac (or Nvidia) were planning. With the cat very firmly out of the bag now though, we can likely expect these to start hitting shelves within the next month or so.
