The Zotac RTX 2080 SUPER AMP Extreme is currently available for £809.99. Please check here for the current US pricing. However, this is the pre-order price prior to today’s launch and is subject to change. That isn’t cheap, but the AMP Extreme is pretty much the flagship model for Zotac, and I suspect the price will be competitive with the prices of top models from ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, etc. That’s about £100 more than the non-SUPER RTX 2080 Amp Extreme.
Without a doubt, all of the RTX 2080 SUPER cards are extremely fast. They’re a nice boost over the current crop of RTX 2080 cards, no doubt about that. However, they’re even getting closer to the RTX 2080 Ti which is still a few hundred quid more expensive. You would have to take your performance pretty seriously to want to move up from the RTX 2080 SUPER. The Zotac RTX 2080 SUPER AMP Extreme is certainly no slouch though. It’s faster than its rivals in most of the 4K tests too, but otherwise, trades blows with them in terms of performance; Zotac isn’t the only one with a new SUPER after all.
If you can afford this mighty card, it’s going to give you a mighty big grin when it comes to gaming performance. For 4K gaming, it’s able to smash that 60 FPS target in pretty much everything with minor GPU setting adjustments. It even managed 47 FPS in Metro at 4K; keep in mind the MSI RTX 2080 Ti Lightning Z only did 53 FPS.
For 1440p, ultra-wide, etc, it should be hitting around 100+ FPS at high settings and above with ease too. Perfect for those high-refresh-rate G-Sync displays, or even FreeSync displays if they’re compatible with your Nvidia GPU.
For 1080p, the card is complete and utter overkill. Then again, if you’re using a 144Hz, or perhaps even higher refresh rate monitor, then you’ll be able to keep those Ultra graphics and still reap those glorious FPS.
The big selling point here is the massive factory overclocks. With a 16+4 Power Phase design and their impressive IceStorm 2.0 cooler, it’s able to maintain high boost clocks with ease. We managed to get another 5% performance bump overclocking ourselves too, making this extremely powerful card just that little bit better. The metal shroud and backplate construction, plenty of RGB lighting and more add up though. As for added value though, you do pay more for this card, but you do get more.
If you’re on the market for an extremely fast graphics card, you could do a lot worse than the Zotac RTX 2080 SUPER AMP Extreme. Delivering performance close to that of the RTX 2080 Ti, but at just 2/3rd the price is impressive; that doesn’t make it cheap, but relatively speaking it’s a bargain.
