Zowie is one of the hottest brands when it comes to eSports. They’ve proven time and time again that they can create fantastic products, that have been precision crafted for the competitive gaming market. You won’t find a million buttons, macros or crazy LED lighting on this mouse. What you should find are all the basics done with precision and reliability; if all the previous Zowie mice I’ve tested are anything to go by, the EC1-A should be pretty awesome.
The EC1-A keeps the same size and shape of the original EC series mouse, but adds in the fantastic Avago 3310 sensor, the same one Zowie use in their also very popular FK series mice. There are two models available in this series, the EC1-A which I have at my disposal today, and the EC2-A.
Features and Specification
In the box, you will find everything you need to get you going. The mouse, a simple user guide and a set of spare slipmats.
The mouse comes hard-wired with a gold-plated USB connector. The cable isn’t braided, but the coating is of a good quality and is relative light-weight.
The mouse has a sleek and hard coated finish. It also has a curvy ergonomic shape that will provide you with a good hand position for both palm rest and claw grip play-styles.
On the left side of the EC1-A, you’ll find a pair of switches.
The left side arches inward, giving you a good gripping point and a comfortable thumb resting position.
A simple Zowie logo on the back and more ergonomic curves on the right side.
As I said before, this is a pretty simple mouse, but you can still see it’s a premium quality product from its overall finish.
There’s a slight dip to the mouse buttons, giving you a good finger resting position and the large scroll wheel is rubber coated for extra grip.
The base of the mouse has two huge slipmats; these should provide a lot of glide on any good gaming surface. There’s also a small button on the bottom for switching DPI, no on-the-fly toggling, but it’s one less button to worry about accidentally hitting mid-game.
