Final Thoughts

Price

The Zowie FK1 is available from Overclockers.co.uk on pre-order for a very reasonable £49.99, this puts it along side some serious competition from SteelSeries, Razer, MadCatz and just about every other mouse manufacturer, who all have some great mice for this kind of money. However, when it comes to a competitive gaming mouse, you’ll be hard pushed to find anything better for this kind of money.

Overview

The Zowie FK is a superb mouse, but the FK1 is just a little bit better in almost every respect. The size increase is easily my favourite feature, as I have always used larger mice to suit my large hands, so the FK1 certainly sits better with my play style than the FK did. Despite the change in size, the mouse is still really light weight and glides beautifully on any surface I tried, although I will admit it seemed to feel more at home on harder cloth surfaces than deep rubber gaming surfaces.

I would love to see Zowie add a couple of extra buttons to the mouse, but it’s hardly a deal breaker at this price range and it would only ruin the otherwise sleek and ambidextrous design of the mouse. Even having the DPI toggle on top would be nice, but again there are benefits to having a no-fuss, get on with the action type design that it already has.

The sensor is heart meltingly good, it’s one of the few mice I’ve used where I actually perceived in improvement in my gaming performance due to the accuracy of the mouse. Sure I missed a few headshots here and there, but when I did I know I only had my self to blame, not the mouse.

“If you want a super accurate, light weight and agile mouse for competitive gaming, then the FK1 is one of the best choices on the market. Sure it’s ambidextrous and somewhat straight forward design may not carry enough features for some gamers, but the benefit here is that this is a simple mouse done incredibly well.”

Pros

  • One of the best sensors on the market
  • No acceleration
  • Low lift-off
  • Ambidextrous design
  • Improved ergonomics (vs FK’14)
  • Competitive price

Cons

  • Some gamers may desire more buttons or a more accessible DPI toggle.
