Zowie G-CM Mouse Mat Review

I really enjoyed working with the G-CM and it has proved to me once again that Zowie are top of their game when it comes to making quality gaming peripherals. I wouldn’t expect anything less either, given their founder is a hardcore gamer himself and they clearly pride them selves on being a “for gamers, by gamers” kind of company, with all their products undergoing field testing by real gamers and many popular gaming events.
While I don’t think the G-CM is going to go down to well with the pro gaming scene, which tends to favour a tougher surface. Zowie may have a stunning range of mice and gaming surfaces but it wouldn’t be a complete set if they didn’t cater to the needs and preferences of those that prefer a softer surface, even if in many cases they can be less accurate than their harder counterparts, again all based on many peoples personal preference.
The 2mm surface provides us with a very durable gaming surface and even though its soft to the touch it feels really well constructed, with well sealed edges and a stylish print. I expect this surface will survive countless hours of gaming and work before showing any signs of wear and tear.
I have chosen to replace my hard surface with the G-CM and given that it’s taken me a while to get around to this review I’ve actually spent the last two weeks using this new surface, and I am more than happy with my decision, although I do keep the harder Speed-TF surface to hand for the occasional game of Battlefield 3. I still think this is a solid all rounder and I’m happy to award it with our Editor’s Choice Award not the Gamer’s Choice Award as this is a more balanced day-to-day use mouse mat than just an all out gaming performance one.
