ZOWIE MiCO Gaming Mouse Review

Final ThoughtsAlthough I didn’t talk about the design and looks of this mouse on the Performance page, I am certainly impressed with it. I think surprisingly it looks better in front of me than it did in the product pictures on the website – something that is quite rare. While it is small it still has an air of class about it, matched with superior build quality and a brilliant finish on top. Couple that with near perfect performance I am certainly going to struggle to find much wrong with it.

While I said I might struggle, I had already picked up that actually it doesn’t work on all surfaces and compared to most mice it does work on lots of surfaces and nearly all of them really well. However, it seems that this mouse can’t cope with an Ikea desk surface and I don’t even mean can’t cope, it literally doesn’t move the pointer one pixel. I wouldn’t of minded quite as much if they hadn’t added it to the features that I quote: ‘Works on all surfaces’.

On top of this, I feel the blue-lit scroll wheel doesn’t complement the mouse itself too well. The purple tint of the 800 DPI setting is a bit more subtle and does seem to work a bit better. The red also works but that might be more as it matches the ZOWIE mousepad I am currently testing it on. For a mouse that works well and looks good I feel this lets it down slightly. On the other hand, it does make it very easy to distinguish between the three when in game which is very useful, I just think they should of been able to find a better more stylish way to do it.

In loads of ways I really like this mouse, all the key defining features are good and I am sure lots of you will love this mouse. There were only a very few minor things that stopped this mouse from winning our Gold accolade.

Pros

  • Looks and feels great
  • Small and Lightweight so very responsive
  • Adjusting DPI setting is quick and easy

Cons:

  • Coloured scroll wheel spoils the look
  • Doesn’t work on all surfaces!
