Akasa Venom Toxic Full Tower Chassis Review

Internally, Akasa’s Venom Toxic has masses of room allowing it to accommodate E-ATX and even the gargantuan XL-ATX motherboard form factors. Graphics cards up to a lengthy 330mm (350mm in the upper 3 expansion slots) are easily accommodated without causing any interference issues. The roof-mounted 230mm fan should ensure your CPU area is cooled effectively. Having effectively positioned cable-management grommets is one thing, but the fact that Akasa’s grommets are very sturdy and offer a huge amount of cable-routing space is a very important factor.

Each of the 6 5.25″ expansion bays makes use of the bright yellow tool-less mounting design. Screw slots are also present for those who prefer added stability. The HDD cage can accommodate up to 6 3.5/2.5″ drives which are attached to the included anti-vibration accommodating trays.

Some of the largest power supplies on the market, such as Corsair’s HX1050 unit, will fit inside the Venom Toxic with room to spare. Anti-vibration padding coupled with 4 rubber feet ensures that any noise created by the PSU will be isolated instantly. A removable dust filter will also ensure it doesn’t create any unnecessary noise due to overheating via dust build up. A dust-filtered mounting location for a 120/140mm fan is positioned perfectly for the task of supplying a graphics card with extra airflow.

Each of the 10 expansion slots is controlled via a tool-less mounting system. The bright yellow levers coincide with the colour scheme of the rest of the case and the 140mm Viper fan above them.

Another set of tool-less 5.25″ drive bay clips are situated behind the case’s motherboard tray, offering even more stability for any expansion drives. The large CPU cooler backplate cut-out is a very useful feature which allows time to be saved when changing a CPU cooler. The 25mm of clearance directly behind the motherboard tray should leave plenty of room for even the fattest of 24 pin cables. While there is plenty of cable management room, actually securing the cables in their intended location will definitely be tricky as Akasa have decided on the use of just 3 cable tie down points, all of which are located towards the 24 pin and PCI-E cables’ route. The CPU power cable and fan connections are going to be left dangling, something which isn’t ideal.
