Not a lot is known about the upcoming sequel to the award-winning The Witcher 3 from CD Projekt Red, but as time rolls on, little bits of information are starting to build up. It wasn’t long ago that we heard that the game was in pre-production, but it seems that the studio is now going full-throttle with main development, and have a team of over 300 people working on the game at this time.

To put that into perspective, that’s nearly half of their entire workforce, and given they’ll have some 200+ people working on keeping Cyberpunk 2077 in good shape, working on The Witcher (the first one) remaster, and any other projects they have in the pipe line, that is a considerable effort towards the fourth Witcher game.
What CD Projekt Red Had to Say
“The team is steadily growing, having reached almost 330 developers at the end of last month,” said CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński in an earnings call. “It’s expected to grow to over 400 by mid next year.”
However, Adam did add that the 220 developers working on Cyberpunk 2077 this year will be moved to other projects such as Polaris and the Cyberpunk sequel, and it’s likely that most of them already have, as the report will of course be looking back at what was done in recent months.
With CD Projekt Red switching to Unreal Engine 5 for future projects, hopefully they have a much smoother development cycle vs the launch of Cyberpunk, as the hours they had to put in to fix that in the end proved to be extremely expensive.
