Helldivers 2 Reportedly Surpasses PlayStation in PC Popularity

Helldivers 2 Devs Say Take a Break After Update Issues

Helldivers 2, a standout game of 2024, has captured the attention of gamers, particularly on PC. This co-op shooter has consistently ranked as one of Steam’s top sellers, showcasing its popularity.

Why PC Gaming Is So Significant

Interestingly, despite similar sales figures for both PC and PlayStation platforms, PC players have doubled in activity compared to their console counterparts. At one point, the game boasted over 160k active players, with PC gamers accounting for 110k of those. In contrast, only about 50k were playing on PlayStation 5. This significant difference might be attributed to the preference for mouse and keyboard controls in shooter games.

The Ongoing Debate Over PlayStation’s Strategy

The discussion around Sony’s strategy to integrate more into the PC market has been polarizing. Some fans believe this focus may detract from PlayStation’s allure. However, the enduring interest from PC users in Helldivers 2 underlines the platform’s importance for future live-service games from PlayStation.

As the debate continues, the facts remain clear: PC gaming’s appeal is too potent to overlook in 2024. With a loyal and returning player base on platforms like Steam, it’s evident that Sony will keep targeting the PC gaming market.

  1. Yeah? This has been for a while now. Because Helldivers 2 shows the amount of Helldivers active and Steam Chartz the amount on Steam active, we know who is playing on what. This game is undeniably more popular on PC.

  2. Us old school PC gamers tried to tell companies for decades to focus on always releasing on PC. Most PC gamers I’ve known aren’t buying consoles, exclusives or not, and the sales of Sony’s games they’ve released on PC show that. Every console platform eventually dies. PC has been around from the start and isn’t going anywhere.
