Intel Flagship Raptor Lake Packaging Goes For New Slimmer Design

With the cost of global logistics increasing quite alarmingly over the last two years, it’s hardly surprising to see that many manufacturers have looked to combat this by scaling down their product packaging sizes. And following a report via TechPowerUp, it seems that Intel is set to follow this trend as an image of the boxwork from the i9-13900K shows a familiar but notably slimmer style of presentation!

Intel Core i9-13900K – Slimmer But Still Stylish Packaging

While it is, of course, disappointing to see Intel move away from the more extravagant style of packing seen in its prior flagship designs, moving to a new slimmer boxwork does make a hell of a lot of sense. – Firstly, getting back to the logistics point, a smaller box means that they can fit more of them into a shipping container which, by proxy, will save them money by being able to get more processors around the world in a single order.

Secondly though, with the cost of cardboard having also increased quite notably, moving to a slimmer packaging will also save them money there too.

And, let’s be honest, while fancy packaging is always nice, the majority of people don’t typically tend to have it sat on the shelf as some kind of presentational/talking piece. You want what’s inside the box, not what’s on the outside!

With that being said though, the new design is still pretty attractive. What do you think though? To us, this is a move that makes nothing but good sense, but do you feel Intel might be losing something in moving away from flagship packaging for their flagship processor? – Let us know in the comments!
