Tegra 3 ASUS Transformer Prime tablet to launch 8th of December

If you’re on the look out for a new tablet that has the latest in performance and operating system functionality then now is probably the time to buy. With Christmas coming the Android tablet market is gearing up for a whole host of new designs featuring Nvidia’s new Tegra 3 quad core CPU and 12 core GPU chip (also with a the energy efficient fifth CPU companion core which runs low intensity tasks to extend battery life) . ASUS will be launching their Transformer Prime tablet but there will also be Tegra 3 tablets from Samsung and Lenovo.

The ASUS Transformer Prime brings impressive specifications to the table which outperform Apple’s iPad 2 with an equal price tag. And since this is the launch price we can expect to see it reduce a month or so after the launch has passed.  The ASUS Transformer Prime will run Android 3.2  or Honeycomb with 1GB of DDR2 memory and a quad core 1.3GHz Tegra 3 processor that has 1MB of L2 cache. It also runs a 720p ready 1280 by 800 10.1″ widescreen display with graphics powered by the previously mentioned 12 core integrated graphics chip on the Tegra 3 unit. There is 32GB of storage provided by flash memory as well as 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 support. ASUS provides a generous rear 8MP camera and front 1.2MP camera.  Battery life is estimated up to 12 hours depending on the intensity of usage.

The pre-order price currently stands at $499.99. Newegg lists the release date of the product as December the 8th, we expect other tablet manufacturers to follow suit and launch then as well.
