Intel Reveal New Broadwell Core M Chips

If you’ve been a little caught up in the PC Gaming Master Race, you might have forgotten that Mac’s need love too. Intel have just announced their newest Mac orientated processors as part of their Broadwell Core M series. Originally released in September, Intel’s Broadwell architecture saw the launch of the 5Y10, 5Y10a and 5Y70 chips. However, with this new announcement we’re expected to see this range furthered in early to mid 2015.

It’s rumored that we will see these new chips placed into the upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air – set to utilize the new 5y71 chip, clocked at 1.2 GHz and a max speed of 2.9 GHz. Intel will also be releasing their mid-range 5Y51 and 5Y31 processors alongside the lower-grade 5Y10c.

Usually, Intel’s newest releases are met with a positive reception, but unfortunately for the tech giant their Broadwell chip placed into Lenovo’s Yoga 3 Pro has been less than impressive. To Intel’s credit, sources have not confirmed whether it is a direct issue of Intel’s or a lackluster Lenovo design.
