A Urinal That Tells You You’re Drunk To Prevent Drunk Driving

1

Drunk driving is a problem all around the world and there are many things that can be done to prevent it or help control the problem, but there is always room for one more and a club in Singapore seems to have an idea that stands out among the crowd, a urinal that can detect if you’ve had a few too many.

The club “Zouk” has worked with marketing agency DDB to develop the gadget which has been charmingly nicknamed “the Pee Analyzer”. Club-goers who drive would receive an RFID parking pass when they drop their cars off at the valet—after determining if the user is fit to drive when he has used the bathroom, the Pee Analyzer would store the relevant information in the RFID pass.

When picking up their cars, the RFID cards would be scanned by the valet—those who have consumed too much alcohol would be asked to take a cab or use the club’s drive-home service.

The system has proved successful but it’s not without it’s flaws, as at the moment it only checks the male drivers and they would still need to implement a similar system for female patrons who drive, or as one whitty YouTube comment pointed out, what if they’re so drunk they pee in the sink and don’t get analysed?

  1. It’s an expensive way of chasing your regular patrons to the club down the street. I like the fact they try look out for you but most people will remain ungrateful.
