RAM prices in July down 16%

Taiwan’s electronic times has stated from its research on the DRAM market that prices fell sharply in July. The first two weeks of the month saw a decline of 7% and the second half of the month saw a further reduction of about 10% which leaves a monthly decline in prices of 15.9%. The company DRAMeXchange said that a 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 module was now being sold for just $28 and a 2GB module for $14.50 down 9.4% and 9.7% respectively.

The Taiwan’s electronic times also goes on further to state that many major companies have started to cut shipments of DRAM because of weak demand and many companies are not at all optimistic that demand will recover for the next quarter which is leading to companies trying to clear their current stock by selling at very low prices. It would appear things are very good for the consumer right now when it comes to DRAM, further price falls are expected before it gets better for the DRAM companies.
