Black Myth: Wukong Receives Tons of Support from Sony Through a Dedicated Team
Game Science, the developer behind Black Myth: Wukong, has received a lot of support from Sony during the game’s development. This support came through a special team called “Content Ventures,” which is dedicated to finding new, emerging games with great potential and helping them from the very early stages of development.
Sony’s Content Ventures Team
Phil Rosenberg, Senior Vice President of Global Partner Development and Relations (GPDR) at Sony, shared these details during an interview on the company’s official blog. He explained how this division helps foster collaborations with promising games. Rosenberg mentioned that Sony had worked on close partnerships with games like Stray, Genshin Impact, and Stellar Blade, all of which became PlayStation console exclusives.
Support for Genshin Impact and Black Myth: Wukong
The Content Ventures team at GPDR, led by Christian Svensson, specializes in identifying hidden gems and nurturing emerging companies that might be off the radar for most of the industry. These teams receive a lot of support from Sony’s third-party management and partner development teams. According to Rosenberg, this team played a key role in working with Annapurna Games on Stray, and also in supporting Genshin Impact, Black Myth: Wukong, and Stellar Blade.
All the games mentioned by Rosenberg were released with some form of PlayStation console exclusivity. Black Myth: Wukong is currently only available on PS5 and PC, with an Xbox Series X|S version confirmed but delayed.
