PlayStation network will be live again this week

As we are all aware, the PSN network has been down for some time now, and has frustrated users due to the gaming time lost but also the possibility of important data being exposed including credit card details.

Sony have been very quiet in regards to the matter but did mention that compensation would be on the table for users who have gone without the service through these times.

Sony have now made a statement confirming that the network will be back online sometime this week with an initial basic service being started and further aspects being reactivated shortly after and all services will be live by the end of the month.

The reactivation will include a phased process that will occur by region and will include asking users to change their password for the service. In return for all of the hassle, PSN users will be entitled to 30 days of premium benefits.

Whilst this is only a sweetener to apologise for the downtime which for a period was way out of Sony’s control, we have heard that any fraudulent credit card usage will be dealt with on a case by case basis and Sony are confident that the majority of users won’t have this problem.
