The other day I covered the release of a Dough 32-inch 4k Monitor which at the time was an unknown company to me and was also offering strangely cheap prices for their monitors. Today I’ve learned of the company’s history as well as some dodgy tactics they’ve been using with this latest monitor.
Dough Fake Pre-order Waitlist Random Number Generator
A post was made by u/kirkle8 on the r/evev subreddit, which was the previous name for Dough more on that later, where the company have been accused of using a random number generator for the pre-order waitlist on its website. The post shows off a look into the source code from the Pre-Order waitlist page of their new monitor and it shows off how the code uses a random number generator to show how many people have signed up for pre-orders. The code shows the generator starts from 14305 and randomly counts up plus saves itself onto your browser and will remember its place when you return to the page later on. This is quite a filthy tactic and as it turns out, something Dough, formerly Eve, is no stranger to.

As it turns out, this company that was formerly known as Eve has a very poor history which led to its name change to Dough. To start things off, the moderators at r/monitors made a decision to ban discussion around the company after they were repeatedly reported for issues with refunds and the company was found to have been artificially upvoting posts relating to their monitors and manipulating the sub-reddit. Additionally the company recently has been caught using bots on the same sub-reddit to shill their new products.
Owes at Least $350,000 In Refunds
To top all of this off, it is also claimed that the company owes its customers at least $350,000 to $630,000 in refunds for unfulfilled orders which is monumental. A post again on the r/evev subreddit claims that there were between 1200 and 1600 unfulfilled orders and a very low chance of getting that money back, especially for customers who bought monitors from Eve before the name change to Dough.
I’d avoid this company, stick to reputable brands such as Samsung who I believe make the panel for this monitor, BenQ, Cooler Master or even this similar 1440p OLED 240Hz Monitor from AOC.
