Tango Gameworks’ Founder Believed Hi-Fi Rush Would Secure Future

Tango Gameworks' Founder Believed Hi-Fi Rush Would Secure Future, Surprised by Studio's Closure

Shinji Mikami, the legendary creator of Resident Evil and founder of Tango Gameworks, believed the studio’s hit game Hi-Fi Rush would ensure its survival under Xbox. Mikami, who left Tango Gameworks in 2023, recently expressed his surprise at the studio’s closure despite the critical success of Hi-Fi Rush. The game was celebrated for its innovative gameplay and garnered a strong following, making its studio’s shutdown even more shocking.

I had thought the studio would be safe as long as they continued to make Hi-Fi Rush games,” Mikami shared in an interview with IGN. “That’s one of the reasons I left Tango Gameworks.

Krafton’s Revival of Tango Gameworks

Although Microsoft closed the studio earlier this year, Korean publisher Krafton stepped in, acquiring the studio and its beloved Hi-Fi Rush franchise. Krafton retained a portion of the team and has plans to continue developing titles within the franchise.

Mikami expressed relief at this turn of events, stating, “Now Krafton has taken over the business, so I feel like it worked out well in the end. I was reminded that if you make a good game, someone will pick it up.”

While there’s no official word on when a sequel might be released, fans can expect more Hi-Fi Rush content in the future, potentially under Krafton’s leadership.
