Retailer Leaks Nintendo Switch Pro Price?

Retailer Leaks Nintendo Switch Pro Price?

It’s been rumoured for nearly two years now that, sooner or later, Nintendo would release a more potent version of its highly-popular Switch console. Following a leak from last month, though, we finally got something resembling confirmation of this when it was suggested that the new Nintendo Switch Pro would be released (or at least launched) this September.

Well, in something seemingly adding to that being a very distinct possibility, following a Twitter post by user ‘@nintendalerts’, A French retailer may have just accidentally confirmed not only an imminent launch, but also how much consumers can possibly expect it to cost!

Nintendo Switch Pro

As part of the revised design, it is understood that the Nintendo Switch Pro (name pending confirmation) will feature an upgraded OLED screen. Alongside this, it will also include a new more powerful Nvidia graphics adaptor that will reportedly be capable of 4K display thanks to the utilisation of their DLSS technology (compensating for the relatively benign hardware). While the standard built-in display is still thought to be set at 720p, albeit looking much nicer with that OLED display, overall, it certainly sounds like a solid upgrade.

If this leak is proven correct though, then there might be a huge problem for consumers here. Namely, that they’re suggesting that the MSRP (whatever they’re worth these days) will be €399.99.

What Do We Think?

While the Nintendo Switch Pro certainly sounds like a decently revised design, that price tag is undoubtedly going to be a problem. Admittedly, while we don’t know if it is accurate, it would have the console (in terms of cost) going directly toe to toe with the significantly beefier specced, presumably much more long-term, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. – So, with this in mind, you can only really draw one of two conclusions; Either the price leaked here is wrong (and we certainly hope it is), or Nintendo is possibly getting a little over-ambitious (or should that be greedy?) with how much they’re planning to charge for this console.
