EVGA’s AMD X670E Classified Motherboard Sells for Over $1300

EVGA's AMD X670E Classified Motherboard Sells for Over $1300

EVGA’s prototype AMD X670E Classified motherboard recently made headlines by fetching over $1300 at auction. This motherboard, a rare piece of hardware, garnered significant attention due to EVGA’s reputation and its limited production run.

A Unique Prototype

The EVGA X670E Classified motherboard is unique because EVGA typically produces NVIDIA-based hardware. This prototype, designed for AMD’s Ryzen Zen 4 processors, indicates EVGA was venturing into new territory.

Features

The motherboard features a 14-phase power delivery system with two 8-pin EPS power connectors, ensuring ample power for extreme overclocking. Its AM5 socket and four DDR5 memory slots are rotated 90 degrees, a signature of EVGA’s design. Connectivity options include two PCIe x16 slots, one PCIe x4 slot, three M.2 slots, 12 USB Type-A ports, two USB Type-C ports, dual Ethernet ports, and various audio connectors.

Availability

Despite being a prototype with early firmware, the EVGA X670E Classified performed well in memory training tests. However, it had some typical prototype issues, such as lack of support for SLI configurations and non-functional fan control.
