Following fresh from the release of the 6800 series GPUs comes this tri-fanned screamer from Yeston, eschewing the standard single-fan reference pcb and cooler for their own take, in a similar way to Asus’ custom GTX 470.
According to wccftech, the cooling system is an Arctic Cooling model, designed to allow much higher overclocks than that with the reference cooler.
The board itself is also special, featuring 8+1+1 phase power, which can help with overclocking stability, GDDR5 rated up to 5000Mhz, voltage testing points for extreme overclockers, and gaps in the extra-long (10″) board to allow better air circulation, similar to Fermi pcb designs.
For outputs the card has 2 DisplayPorts, 1 HDMI and 2 DVI ports, pretty much par for the course, as well as a single CrossFire connector.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on this one, especially if Yeston decide to release a 6870/6950/6970 version, as it is essentially a stock card, but built with higher quality components; a little like using a Rolls-Royce engine in a Range Rover. Add the custom cooling on top, and I think we’re on to a cracking piece of kit. It is likely to be stock overclocked, though details are currently unknown.
Keep checking back here for all the info as it becomes available, and hopefully a test on Eteknix in the near future.
oh my god ? does it really need an accelero cooler anyway? I would like to see it in my new 6950 once released though 😀
I don`t think it gets so hot. On the other hand, as you said the 69xx series might use it. We`ll see if they`re hot or not.
Not being hot at stock does not mean it does not deserve a better cooler: think of the overclocks. This card was designed for ridiculous overclocking, hence the doublestable power supply, higher quality RAM, ect.I actually quite like the idea of custom coolers out-of-the-box, as it allows people who would've otherwise stuck with stock get better performance.
yeah but it takes 3 slots, its really a waste IMO, since it doesn't exceed 85celcious you shouldn't be worried at all. GPU's can handle even 100c. You just have to turn the fan to 60% and 75 maybe on load and your set.
The cooler may be superfluous for some: granted, but the higher-quality components on this card should pave the way for similar modifications on higher-performance cards.Also, my current card takes up 3 slots, due to an oddly shaped cooler, lol.

It's a Gigabyte 5770, but with a weird "Batman-style" cooler.<img src="http://db.tt/dNy2zCR" alt="" />The silly thing is that the fan doesn't protrude, it's just the plastic on top.I'm so tempted to just take a belt-sander to it:rolleyes:On the plus side, it has a proper copper core to the Heatsink.
Its the first time i see this kind of cooler, i never bothered with gigabyte products thats why. i just bought a gtx460 for physx card though from Gigabyte, lets see what the dual fan design is capable of.
I got it because it mainly because I was offered it for £100 last February, which was a pretty good deal.Later i discovered that it has a 2oZ copper core on the HSF, which explains why my temps are lower, and recover much more quickly than the reference.

this card is for those who have plenty of space inside their case. i don`t :@. i like longer than bigger then 2 slots 🙂
