Dishonored 2 to Use Denuvo DRM

Dishonored 2

Dishonored received widespread critical acclaim on launch and is commonly seen as a fantastic stealth game with a gorgeous art style. It’s certainly one of the best new IPs in recent memory and I really enjoyed the game’s distinctive setting. Thankfully, Dishonored was successful enough to become a franchise and the sequel launches on November 11th. Consumers won’t be able to read the press’ opinions until after launch due to Bethesda’s new review policy. Not only that, the PC version will be using the controversial Denuvo DRM which has proved extremely challenging to crack. Also, Denuvo limits the activations to 5 different PCs per day.

Of course, DRM in various forms has been injected into PC games for some time to reduce piracy. However, this can often lead to a worse experience for legitimate customers while the cracked version has no connection requirements. Additionally, Denuvo is a particularly nasty form of DRM which could stop games from working if something ever happened to the Steam platform. Even though it took some time for early Denuvo games to be cracked, it seems the later releases are being completed at a faster pace. As it stands, Denuvo remains the main option for publishers wanting to include anti-piracy measures, although its effectiveness might be reduced in the coming months.

  1. I dont get developers at all. Do they not know that when people see DRM, especialy denuvo, they wont buy it for the sole reason that it has a DRM? Your game will get cracked, its man-made, it has loopholes. Make a good game and people will buy it
