[COLOR=#000000]The modules have carried on with the well known Ballistix Tracer design using the patented heatspreaders that we’ve seen in the past. This product lineup gives you the choice of black, blue, red or green heatspreaders depending on your preference or motherboard colour scheme. Today we are taking a look at the black version.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#000000]The heatspreaders feature a silver embossed border with reflective surface. Within the center of this on one side, the Crucial logo can be seen, and at the other end of the module we are told that it’s part of the Ballistix Smart Tracer range.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#000000]Turning the modules over reveals the same styling, but also two barcode stickers of which one gives plenty of information on the modules themselves including the model number (BL256664ST1608) which once punched into Google will reveal a lot more information on the full specs, as can be found here – http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=BL2KIT25664ST1608RG[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#000000]Other information on the modules include that they have an XMP profile, that they have tight timings of 8-8-8-24 and that they run at a respectable 1.65V.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#000000]The memory modules themselves including the heatspreaders remain very low profile and do not protrude anywhere above the PCB, resulting in no clearance issues with various CPU coolers such as the Noctua NH-D14 or CoolerMaster V10.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#000000]You will also not find any cause for concern with regards to adjacent memory slots as the modules remain slim and can be placed in various slots without issues.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=#000000]Removing the heatspreaders can be quite a tricky task, hence we don’t advise doing it as it will void your lifetime warranty that Crucial supply to you.

The most vital aspect of these memory modules is that they are part of the Tracer range, which in short means that they come inclusive of activity LEDs on top and illuminated ground-effect LEDs along the bottom of the modules, giving a slight spark to the memory slot that it’s situated in.
