IcyDock announced the release of their latest hot-swap cage and it is quite the nifty little one. The MB326SP-B allows you to install up to six 2.5-inch drives within a single 5.25-inch drive bay while it also provides you with the convenience of easy drive swapping in general as well as hot swapping.
The new drive cage supports 2.5-inch drives with a height between 5 and 9.5 mm and it can be both SAS and SATA interfaced SSDs or HDDs – it really depends on the controller that you connect the cage to. It features dual 40mm fans for drive cooling and the two fans are hooked up to a built-in 3-mode fan controller: minimum, maximum, and automatic. That provides both a stable and silent operation of your drives.
The drive trays feature vent holes to allow air intake and they’re also tool-free during the installation thanks to the built-in screws. Should you want more stability, then the drive trays also take normal screws for proper mounting – a feature especially useful for mechanical drives that vibrate.
Each drive tray features individual LEDs and you only need two SATA power connectors to power six drives. This isn’t just convenient as it reduces cable clutter in your system and thereby improves the airflow, it also solves the trouble with power supplies and their lack or power connectors when you run a lot of drives in the same system.
