Team Group have announced the latest in their SSD product lines. The Xtreem SSD S3 Pro utilises the current SATA III 6Gb/s interface along with the “latest” Sandforce controller, probably SF-2281. The drive boasts up to 550MB/s read and 520MB/s write depending on the capacity you choose. The drive is available in 60/120/240/480GB capacities with the 240GB drive holding the best performance figures. Team Group are claiming a hefty 90,000 IOPS (Random 4K Writes) as well as support for technologies like TRIM, S.M.A.R.T, RAISE and ECC correction.
Being a Team Group memory product the Xtreem SSD S3 Pro drives all come with a 3 year warranty and Team Group’s Dura Write technology should ensure that these drives make it to the 3 year life expectancy and beyond. No pricing or availability from Team Group but expect to see these SSDs soon as they look to compete with the latest new drives like the Vertex 4 from OCZ.
